Open access is a publishing model for scholarly communication that makes research information available to readers at no cost.
If the article you want is not available in the DVC Library, we may be able to borrow it for you from another library.
Fill out the InterLibrary Loan Request Form to begin the borrowing process. Keep in mind that requests can take up so 3-4 weeks but usually arrive within 10 days. If you have any questions, please speak or chat with a reference librarian.
Library databases contain electronic collections of high-quality, research information. They are a good place to find peer-reviewed, scholarly articles and can also provide you with news, facts, statistics, as well as arguments and opinions. They are set up to allow you to describe in detail what exactly you are looking for. You can copy or download individual sources and they provide citations for each source.
The DVC Library subscribes to many research databases. One strategy you can try for finding articles is to search using our library search tool called OneSearch. You can get started using the search box below. OneSearch allows you to search for articles in all of our library databases at the same time.

The video below provides a quick demonstration of how to use OneSearch:
In addition to OneSearch, we recommend that you also try searching for your topic in a couple individual databases. Below are the databases we recommend for finding articles on health topics, diseases, physiology and pathophysiology.
Database research can be tricky. It requires different search skills and strategies than you may be used to from using Google and other open web search engines. If you're having trouble finding good sources on your topic, we encourage you to come into the library to work with a librarian 1-on-1.
You can also get help online 24/7 via our Ask a Librarian service and you can book a 1-on-1 research appointment. We're here to help!
