OER@DVC is an award-winning initiative to expand access to open educational resources at Diablo Valley College.
Our mission is to advance equity and success for DVC students by eliminating textbook costs.
We are a workgroup of the DVC Academic Senate and are coordinated through the DVC Library.
OER@DVC was formed in 2019 to combat the rising cost of textbooks and expand access to high-quality, zero-cost learning materials for all students. Since then, our program has grown into a statewide leader in open education.
With over $2.2 million in grant funding and support from more than 200 faculty, OER@DVC has helped eliminate textbook costs in hundreds of course sections, saving students more than $9,469,960.
OER@DVC receives the Academic Senate’s statewide award for Excellence in Community College Programs.
We work closely with our sister colleges Contra Costa and Los Medanos through the 4CD Districtwide OER Council, and proudly collaborate with the ASCCC Open Educational Resources Initiative to build sustainable, student-centered ZTC programs.
We have presented our work at OpenEd, ZTC Summit, CalOER, and the Open Educational Resources Institute.
