A persistent link, also known as a durable link, stable link, or permalink, is a URL that connects directly to a specific full-text article in a library database or electronic journal subscription. Persistent links can be placed within Canvas, course web sites, syllabi and readings lists. They allow students to access articles by linking to the DVC Library's electronic subscriptions.
When students click on the link to the article or database, they will need to log in with their Insite username and password.
To create a link to books, ebooks, articles, etc. from OneSearch search results, click on the title of the resource, and then the Permalink button.
Next, OneSearch will provide the permalink. Click on "Copy the permalink to clipboard".
Now you can paste this link into a Canvas page.
Persistent links are called "permalinks" in the EBSCO databases.
Once you find the article you want to link to, click on the permalink button on the right side of the screen. Copy the URL in the text box that displays near the top of the screen.
In JSTOR, persistent links are called stable links.
Once you find the article you want to link to, look for the stable link near the citation information for the article located near the top left.
